About Our Logo

The Logo of DDM College of Pharmacy depicts the following aspects in Pharmacy:

1. The bowl with a snake: Known as ‘Bowl of Hygeia’ with the serpent of Epidaurus. This is one of the commonly used symbols in Pharmacy. Hygeia is known as the Greek Goddess of Health & Hygiene, and is the daughter of Asclepius. The symbol of Asclepius is his rod with a snake twined around it; correspondingly, Hygeia’s symbol is a chalice with a snake twined around its stem and poised over it.

2. The Green Cross: Often overlaid with Bowl of Hygeia, it is a widely used sign to depict Pharmacy.

3. The symbol ‘Rx’: It stands for a medical prescription, and is derived from the Latin word ‘recipe’, which means ‘to take’.

4. Mortar and Pestle: These depict tools used to prepare ingredients by crushing/grinding them into a fine paste/powder in a pharmacy laboratory.

5. Chemical Flask: Widely used in pharmaceutical/chemical labs., the Conical Flask with liquid broadly represents the field of ‘Medicinal Chemistry’ and ‘Drug Discovery’.

6. Capsule: One of the most commonly used ‘dosage-forms’, it denotes the field of ‘Pharmaceutics’ and other allied sciences such as ‘Biopharmaceutics’, ‘Dosage Form Design’, ‘Pharmacokinetics’ etc.

Taken as a whole, our logo represents academic excellence in Pharmacy, and urges students to seek knowledge.
